2009 Bordeaux
“EP 09 will be expensive, especially for the first-growths, which will be significantly higher than the lesser growths. Accordingly to our sourced from Chateaux owners. The initial tranche will start from Euro 450-500 (very small amount), and if the respond is high, they will likely to double up the amount by the end of the campaign (very similar to 2005). There are however some value to focus, for wine like La Mission, Montrose (the best since 90), Lynch-Bages, Smith Haut-Lafitte (the finest I have tasted), Cos (a very controversial wine), Leoville Poyferre (significantly better than Leoville Barton), Haut-Bailly, Evangile, Angelus. All the first-growths second labels are also the best I ever seen, wine like Pavillon Rouge, Les Forts, Les Pagodes. Unlike 2005, 2008, which will required 10-15 years before anyone could approach the wine due to the huge tannin cloud. 2009 is juicy, lush, with almost no evident of tannin (the tannin is so polish, silky). The best example managed to hide the high-alcohol well and come across as weightless. Also, the wine is fresher when compare to 2003. This year my en primeur tasting is so easy to access.”
